My Feet Hurt No Matter What Shoes I Wear

Do you wake up in the morning where your feet just hurt? It happens to all of us from time to time, and it’s not always from fungus. Whether you are a working mom, or a waiter who is running around a restaurant for hours at a time, or anyone in between, your feet can take a lot of wear and tear.

If your shoes fit like this, no wonder your feet hurt!

Your Shoes Don't Have To Hurt Your Feet

You really need to think about the way you shop for shoes. Like most women, I love to shop, and I have a serious weakness for shoes. This time of year, I am looking forward to the holidays, and all the great outfits that will be available to wear. I know I will be invited to at least a couple of parties, where I will be spending a lot of time on my feet, in shoes that are probably too high, along with dancing, and all the running around shopping I’ll be doing.

I am starting to think about how I will care for my feet this year.

The first thing that we should all think about doing is getting a really comfortable pair of shoes. I am talking about shoes that I can go to the mall in, do my grocery shopping in, and running other errands. It isn’t necessary to always wear uncomfortable shoes. I sort of look at my feet, and the shoes I wear, like losing weight. If I go easy on sweets and high calorie food during the week, then I can treat myself at the end of the week with something that I am going to love eating, and probably is a little too high in calories, the same goes for my feet. If I do all my running around during the week, wear stylish but practical shoes to work, then when that party comes around Saturday night, my feet will be in good shape, won’t hurt, and I’ll be able to put on those fabulous pair of way too high stilettos!

How To Find A Shoe That Is Comfortable And WON’T Hurt

We all know how to find a great stylish uncomfortable pump, so I’m not going to offer any advice there, but choosing a comfortable shoe is a little more complicated.

Here are some tips that you should share with anyone with sore feet:

  • Find a shoe that has a cushion to it. Press down with your thumb on the heel of the shoe and see how much give the shoe has. If it has a low, broad heel (which it should) then there should be a little bit of give, but also firm enough to hold your foot securely in place. It should also be shaped to follow the curve of your foot.
  • Make sure the shoe actually fits properly. Often with uncomfortable shoes, we will squeeze into something that we love, because our size isn’t available, although we shouldn’t do it, we do it anyway, especially if that shoe is on sale! Well not for comfortable shoes, if you are buying a shoe for comfort make sure it is exactly the right size for you; both length and width need to be accurate in order to get the most comfort. Remember, these aren’t your drop dead diva shoes; these are for running errands and spending a lot of time in shoes, so it is the right thing to do to spend a little more to get a good fit. Feet that don’t hurt is the goal.
  • It is best to avoid synthetic material. Natural material has the ability to breathe as well as form to the shape of your foot providing more comfort.
  • It is best to look for a store that specializes in comfortable shoes. These stores often have sales people that know their stuff. It is a great idea to listen to their advice, try on a few different pairs of shoes that you like, then decide on something in your budget and will go with both your casual clothes, and those you wear to work.

The most important thing to know is that comfortable shoes can be both stylish and not hurt your feet. Try to wear comfortable shoes when you are not looking to make a big splash, then save the shoes that are show stoppers for the occasions that come along a little less often. This way you will still get to have fun and enjoy shoes, but you won’t be dying because your feet hurt!
