How Effective is Chinese Medicine for Toenail Fungus?

Toenail fungus is one of the most common infections that affects human beings. The fungus normally enters the body through torn skin segments, open wounds and lesions. However, the human toes provide an optimum atmosphere for the growth and development of fungi due to the dampness and warmth associated with this part of the body. There exists several home remedies for toenail fungus but not all home remedies are effective.  Similarly, Chinese medicine for toenail fungus has been in existence for many years but it was not until recently that people began to consider such remedies.

How Chinese Medicine for Toenail Fungus Works

China is famous for its great variety of natural remedies for various health disorders, so Chinese medicine for toenail fungus involves treatments that have been used for centuries.

Damp Off

Damp off is one of the most common Chinese remedies for toenail fungus. It contains ingredients such as atractyloidis, poly polus, poria cocos, citri reticulate, jujube, cinnamomi, zingiberie recens and alismatis. Its major role is to treat fungal infection and other conditions such as edema, diarrhea, urination difficulty and gastritis.

Fungo Off

Just as its name suggests, this Chinese concoction is very effective in getting rid of fungal infections. Its ingredients include tribulus, alisma, plantago, dictamnus, citrus viride, citrus peel, cicade moulting and kochia. It is normally regarded as the cheapest and most effective way of treating toenail fungus.

Fungo Lotion

This is also another possible Chinese remedy for toenail fungus. It should be applied to the infected area before applying fungo balm (see below). Its ingredients include melia, borel, dictamium and cnidium.

Fungo Balm

This concoction helps in treating and preventing fungal infections. It is mostly effective in combating ringworms, tinea infection, athlete’s foot and toenail fungus. Unlike other Chinese remedies, fungo balm also helps in drying the affected area, thus inhibiting the growth and development of fungi. Once the infected area is dry, the healing process becomes quicker and more effective. It is also considered to be among the cheapest and reliable ways of getting rid of fungal infections. Its ingredients include licorice, gypsum, kochiae, zinc oxide and sophora.

Modern Methods of Treating Toenail Fungus

The introduction of new technology has led to the rise of advanced and more effective ways of treating toenail fungus and a good example is laser treatment. This new method has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a possible option of treating toenail fungus.

According to recent studies, it has been revealed that 85% of patients who undergo laser treatment for toenail fungus are successful. This procedure normally takes about half an hour for every patient. It works by the help of two wavelength beams that penetrate the toenail, thus killing the fungi effectively. During this process, the patients feel little or no pain at all. The treatment process is fast, reliable and focuses on the long-term future of the patient compared to any Chinese medicine for toenail fungus.
