The condition can cause a person to feel less confident. However, there are several natural remedies that a person can use if they want to try to get rid of their toenail fungus.

Baking Soda

One of the reasons why this is such a popular home remedy for nail fungus is it’s readily available. Baking soda is at almost any store. When compared with alternative treatments, it’s also very affordable.

To make this solution, Epsom salt, peroxide, hot water and baking soda must be combined. Hot water, a half cup of Epsom salt, peroxide and baking soda must be added. After stirring the mixture for about one minute, half a cup of white vinegar should be added.

Next, the nails should be soaked in white vinegar for a couple of minutes. After soaking, a cotton ball can be used to apply the mixture to the nails. This process should be repeated twice per day, and it can take about four weeks to see results.

Tea Tree Oil

Another popular natural remedy for nail fungus is tea tree oil. This oil is preferred because it has fungicide and antiseptic properties. For this remedy, a cotton ball must be used to rub tea tree oil on the infected nails.

Use a toothbrush to rub the oil into the nails for about 10 minutes.

This process should be performed twice per day. But, before pure tea tree oil is applied, it should be diluted with an equivalent amount of thyme or olive oil.

Vinegar

Some people have had positive results with white vinegar. To make the mixture, two parts hot water should be mixed with one part white vinegar.

Any nails that have nail fungus should be soaked in the solution once per day, and the nails need to be soaked for 10 to 15 minutes. If skin irritation occurs, this means the vinegar needs to be diluted more.

Vicks

Although some people might not consider this to be a natural remedy, Vicks VapoRub can be used to treat nail fungus. There are no clinical trials that say this treatment is effective, but there is plenty of anecdotal evidence. Most people apply Vicks VapoRub in the morning and before they go to sleep. Some people like to apply the rub before they go to bed and wrap the infected toenails with bandages.

Laser Treatment

Although these natural remedies can produce results, the best cure is laser treatment. There are several advantages to curing toenail fungus with laser treatment.

It might seem like it would be a very expensive treatment, but it’s actually very affordable. Anyone who has nail fungus should look into having the fungus eliminated with a laser.
