Avoid Feet Injuries With These Lacing Tips

lacing techniques for healthy feetIt goes without saying, almost everyone is concerned about injured feet. Injuries happen for a variety of reasons. Believe it or not, one way you can help to prevent them is to learn lacing techniques for healthy feet.

It’s quite easy to start implementing these lacing techniques for healthy feet. Doing so helps to increase blood circulation.

You may not realize this, but poor blood circulation is typically one of the causes of toenail fungus. A fungal infection never goes away on its own. If left untreated, it can spread to other areas of the foot. This is something you want to avoid.

Avoid Squished Toe Nails

Squished toes nails are painful. Using this lacing method will help to lift the toe area of the shoes.

Start with the bottom set of holes, on the shoe. Lace as you normally would, but make the outside section of the lace approximately twice as long as it is on the inside. Bring the inside short piece through the top on the opposite side.

Bring the longer piece to the next hole, on the other side. Then, lace it down through the hole, which is directly across from it. Repeat the process until both shoes are completely laced.

Avoid Blisters on Your Heels

You avoid blisters by making your shoes fit more snugly around your ankles. To avoid blisters, don’t use the set of holes that are nearest to your ankle. Start by threading one end of the lace through the next hole, on the same side of the shoe. Don’t pull it all the way tight.

Leave enough room to make a small loop. Repeat the same process, on the other side. Pull each lace through the loop on the opposite side. Tighten and continue lacing as usual.

Make More Room in Your Shoes

There is almost nothing worse than the uncomfortable feeling of tight shoes. To make more room, simply start lacing your shoe in the second set of holes, away from your toes. Continue to lace the rest of the shoe, as you normally would. You should be able to notice a more comfortable difference

These are just three quick examples of alternate lacing techniques for healthy feet. They are meant to help you avoid injury and to feel more comfortable when you’re wearing shoes. These work especially well for runners and other athletes. But, non-runners appreciate them, too!
